Task 3: Successful and unsuccessful interviews

Here is one example of an unsuccessful Interview that was on BBC West Midlands. Including Less Ross and Hardeep Singh Kohli. The aspects that made this interview unsuccessful was the way Les Ross was more having a convosation with the interviewee instead of  asking direct clear question's. The interviewee seemed confused with the subject they were talking about because of the different questions that the interviewer was asking and talking about. By the questions you can tell that no research had been done, Les Ross started talking about a completely different medium that Hardeep had come on to talk about. This created a unsettled and uncomfortable atmosphere because of the way that the interview acted towards the situation. He would also go off topic and in some sections 'make fun' of certain aspects of what the interviewee was saying or explaining. In the end Hardeep decided that this interview 'is not working for him; and that they should 'call this a day' because how uncomfortable and irritated he was feeling.

Here is an example of an successful interview that was show on 'BBC newsnight' including Jeremy Paxman and Michael Howard. This shows many asspects of a successful interview because of the techniques that Paxman used to get the information out he needed in a polite and well planned way. He used many very direct questions, getting straight to the point wanting to hear what Howard had to say. He also asked open questions, allowing Howard to explain himself but also so Paxman can uses his answers against him in some other question or statement. Paxman again had to listen very carefully to pick up anything of intreats that he again can use against him or add to another open question he is going to ask. He also used the rule of three, asking a direct question again and again from the interviewee to finally answer with a detailed answer because of frustration or confusion.
