Evaluation of corporate video

Here is the feedback from my clients on the last screening of my corporate video.

Constraints
When planning this corporate video my partner and me came up with many ideas that we thought would look professional when watching this video. For example we thought about following a few students around from school to school, filming their journey and the subjects they take and the friends they come in contact with. Because of the time frame we had to film this and the time we were allowed to hire the equipment we were not able to film students because of the time issue and also the students schedule, not finding the right time when they and mean and my partner were both free to film. Another big change in our story bored is the transition from school to school using Google maps as the transition to save time and pace when watching, because of the recording software we were thinking of using the transition will not be as smooth as we thought leaving it looking un professional. Although these ideas came across as well thought out and different from other videos and would have worked well with the theme of our video, we could not put our ideas into action.

Strengths and weaknesses
When looking back at my corporate video I have many strengths and weaknesses that show in my video that come across when watching and when I edited. A strength that I come across which is a strong theme that came out throughout the video, which is using the right visuals and interview questions to highlight the theme of a creative, independent friendly place to be in. I also believe the relationship between the visuals and voice over went well tougher creating a strong professional look when watching. A weakness of my video is the text introducing the different interviewees, I tried to take the colours of LaSWAP and use them as the text colours. When watching it back the text looks 'cheap' and the feedback I was give shared that it did not live up to a professional standard.

Strength and weaknesses compared with other corporate videos
My work compared to the LaSWAP advert that is shown on the website shows many similarities, brining forward the positive feeling and learning experience you get when coming to this 6th form. Their were many different shots of students in the LaSWAP website showing the different range of students that come to LaSWAP, which I believe I tried to replicate in my own corporate video, filming students from my year to show the diversity of this school. Comparing to one of the Apple corporate video I tried to use the same filming techniques when filming interviews, trying to film them at a certain angle at a certain size to look professional when a Media audience is watching.

Looking and researching all the other corporate videos connecting to schools and companies, I believe that my corporate video became stronger due to the ideas that I wanted to create to achieve a professional video look. When going back to reedit my work i started to take in my clients feedback, I will look back at other corporate videos that I believe will give my video more strength and will help me point out my weaknesses. For example looking at the Westminster City corporate video they use text on screen to show their success rate, which is edited on. When trying to add information in a short period of time editing text is an easy and professional way to bring forward the information of the school, which I believe will make create a strength aspect towards my video. It can also help a weakness of my corporate video by making me add different facts about LaSWAP, which will give information to a Media audience watching.

I believe I could work on and change the text that I used in my corporate video, from using text to highlight LaSWAP's success rate and main information and to rethink the text that shows the names of my interviewees. Looking at other productions that I have done in the past and looking at all the different promotional videos from this unit I can take and use the steady camera technique that was used to create professional standard of filming.

My role within this production
When working with my partner I put together the pre- production work of this project, I believe that I did well in this part of the planning stage by completing everything that was needed to be completed before the filming stage. I made sure everything was correctly filled out and put together to help my partner and me during the filming stage. I believe that I could have made a bigger effort to be involved in the filming stage, gathering more visuals of different landscapes and buildings of the schools and gathering and conducting more interviewees to use.

Feedback form others
When given my feedback about my video there were many similarities between them all from my client, peers and teachers. One difference is the transitions from my visuals to the voice over. A teacher told me that I should make them softer, by using different transitions and fades. A client then told me that my use of transitions was too much, telling me to cut down and to not rely on them. This shows that I only have a few big problems, which my production that people see straight away when watching, which are easy to change and correct.

Teacher feedback
.- Don't spend too much time on one interviewee, because it its to long for a viewer to watch
 - Use more voice overs then images

Peer Feedback
- Add in more statistics about the success rate and information about the school.
- Change the colour and the font of the text

Teacher feedback
- Change font and colour of the text
- Add in more transitions to make the look softer

Here is the feedback that was given to my when my client/peers and teachers watched my final edit of my LaSWAP corporate video. As you can see most feedback told to me to change a certain aspect are similar, which is easier for me when changing my video again to make it better and professional.

Legal and professional constraints
I wanted to use music in my video to create a professional and friendly feel for a Media audience watching. To do this I had to find music that was copyright free so I don't break the copyright act on using other artists’ work without their permission. To get over this constraint I looked up music copyright free so I could use in in my video without breaking any rules and to create a corporate video with background music.

Another constraint that I had to come across when filming my production is permission from the interviewees that are under the age of 18, because most of the students that were filmed are under this age I wrote out a permission slip stating what I will be using the footage that they are included in for my promotional video and what will happen to this when it is finished. Them completing the slip is the students giving me permission to be filmed.

Management role
Management role for this production I believe was shared equally between me and my partner, we both decided and took on certain parts of the planning and filming stage and had many meetings discussing what we have gained and what aspects needed to be improved.
